Uponor Supports Local Non-Profit Montessori School
Uponor Helps Montessori School Go Green
Uponor is a leading manufacturer of plumbing and heating systems for both residential and commercial buildings. Uponor manufactures Wirsbo hePEX plus tubing which we have used quite a few times on both residential and commercial projects for radiant heating.
Montessori School Chooses Radiant Heat
As a full time engineer for a design-build construction company I’ve recently been overseeing the construction of a large 3,500 sq. ft. addition for a non-profit Montessori School. Early in the design stages of the project it was clear that energy efficiency, comfort and operating costs were high on the owner’s list of priorities. In addition, the owner was very clear that radiant heat was a necessary component in that equation.
Radiant heat would help achieve all three of their concerns by providing a very comfortable heat source while being energy efficient and a low maintenance heating system. This particular school teaches lots of lessons in situations where students will often be sitting or lying on the floor. With radiant heat the students are able to enjoy a comfortable warm surface.
Uponor Donated Radiant Heat System Materials
The folks at Uponor were very generous and made a very generous donation to the Newport Montessori School for this project. They have supplied Wirsbo hePEX plus tubing along with Joist Trak™ panels. Their donation has allowed the school to meet their heating needs while keeping with their Green theme and comfortable atmosphere.
We’ll be writing several articles showcasing the installation of the radiant heat system on this project. The projects consists of two different radiant zones including a concrete slab with radiant and a wood floor system that uses the radiant tubing and Joist Trak™ panels.
We really think that radiant heat is a great system to use in both residential and commercial buildings. If you’re interested in learning more about both it’s installation and use then be sure to look for our future articles on the Uponor Radiant Heating System that we’re installing.
