SmartDriver by Black & Decker | Product Review

Black & Decker SmartDriver

Black & Decker has several new Lithium Ion cordless tools and I was lucky enough to test some of them. I just tested the Black & Decker LI3100 Compact Cordless Screwdriver and I was really impressed.

I’ve got quite a few cordless screwdrivers (note the term “Screwdriver”, I’m not talking about drills here) in my work shop and none of them have ever been very impressive. I think that’s because they were all the straight “stick” kind and not very comfortable or natural to use.

The Black & Decker SmartDriver is shaped just like a full size drill but it’s only the size of your palm and that’s why I like it so much. This little compact sized screwdriver is much more comfortable to work with and it fits in really tight spaces.

I recently used the SmartDriver when I repaired our refrigerator. I had to remove two dozen small screws inside the refrigerator to replace a part. The SmartDriver worked great because of it’s small size and nice LED light. The job would have been much harder with a large drill.

Final Thoughts

There’s no doubt that this compact screwdriver is a handy little tool to have around the house. It’s perfect for all those small projects like adjusting cabinet hinges, opening an electrical box or helping put together another toy for the kids. Combine this small cordless screwdriver with a bit driver set or screw tip and you’ve got a great multi-purpose cordless tool. Best of all it’s small and it will fit nicely in our “junk” drawer!

The Black & Decker SmartDriver will be available this fall just in time for the holidays.
