Pulverizer Review – Multi-Purpose Demolition Tool

The Pulverizer™ – A New Multi-Purpose Concrete & Demolition Tool

We were recently asked to test the all new Pulverizer™ demolition tool. Check out the press release first with product information then our review below.

The Pulverizer is a hand held solution for heavy-duty demolition projects for professionals and DIYers.

September 2009 – Jackson®, an Ames True Temper® brand and a leading manufacturer of non-powered, industrial-strength digging, striking and material handling products, today announces the launch of the Pulverizer™, a multi-purpose concrete demolition tool that packs enough power and force to help get the bigger jobs done with ease. At only 3.5 pounds and 12.8″ long, the Pulverizer is a hand-held tool that users can conveniently carry on their tool belt.

Following are a number of key features that make the Pulverizer a versatile tool:

  • A heavy duty sledge head with a 1-1/2″ strike face
  • Claw teeth for better gripping in prying applications
  • A triangle shaped area to rip through drywall
  • A two inch scraper with a large head nail puller
  • Textured TPE grip with shock dampening properties to reduce slipping

The Pulverizer is fully forged and entirely heat-treated to 48 to 52 Rockwell hardness, and is an ideal tool for both professionals doing heavy concrete work like setting up and tearing down forms, prying forms loose, hammering in drift pins, and bending form snap ties, and for helping DIY homeowners accomplish general and concrete demolition. The Pulverizer is another all-in-one tool from Ames True Temper that provides a quick and easy solution for all users.

The Pulverizer is available this spring at Ace Hardware, True Value, Orchard Supply Hardware, Amazon.com, Fastenal, Ors Nasco, and other leading retailers nationwide at a possible retail price of $39.99.

Product Review

We recently tested the Pulverizer on one of our construction sites. We used it for demo working including drywall removal and concrete block removal. The Pulverizer is well built with a comfortable grip and a very generous prying surface.

We really like the leverage the Pulverizer generates for pulling nails and screws. This tool is a really great hybrid of a small sledge hammer and pry bar built into one. If we had to find one minor flaw it would be the length of the handle. For a tool of this weight we’d like to see the handle be another 3 to 6 inches long for better balance clearances during demo work. Overall we think the Pulverizer is a good demolition tool at a fair price.
