Recently I’ve had several questions about leaking windows. Most window leaks can be traced back to poor installation. Today there are many self adhesive flashing products available to make weather proofing much easier. Grace Construction Products has a whole line of Window, Door and Deck Flashings for every construction task.
The diagram above is provide by Grace Construction Products and it shows the standard method of applying a self-adhered flashing product to a new flanged window. The basic and most important part of the application is starting at the bottom and working to the top so that the top layers of flashing are above the lower ones. Following these simple steps will create a long lasting weather resistant flashing detail on all of your new windows.
