Planting Tulip and Daffodil Bulbs

Planting Perennial Bulbs

Fall is the perfect time for planting tulip and daffodil bulbs. Each spring we are greeted by beautiful perennial flowers like tulips and daffodils. But in order to enjoy these beautiful flowers the bulbs must be planted the fall before.

Last fall we planted a mixture of tulip and daffodil bulbs in two of our flower beds around the house. Tulips and daffodils are planted in the same way so they are very easy to mix together to create a very nice landscaping effect.

It’s best to plant the bulbs in early fall. The easiest way to plant them is by digging a Tulip Spade and Bulb Planter or by digging a shallow trench about 6 inches deep. Once you’ve dug the hole or trench you should place a couple inches of good rich organic soil in the bottom. Then place the bulbs in the hole firmly with the pointed portion facing up. Cover the remaining hole with good organic soil and water liberally. The bulbs should be approximately 4 inches deep. Bulbs should be spaced about 4 inches apart to create a very nice clustered look.

The real key is to purchase good quality bulbs that are free of bruises. You can buy tulip and daffodil bulbs from Amazon:

So if you’d like to have some beautiful early spring flowers in your garden then it’s time to plant your bulbs. Don’t wait till spring because you won’t have any flowers till the following year.
