Self Stick Crown Molding

Peel and stick crown molding? What will they come up with next? I’m having a hard time understanding how this product is a good thing. There are a couple of manufacturers out there making peel and stick crown molding. They sell it in short lengths and it comes ready to cut with scissors, then you peel off the backing of the self adhered tape and presto crown molding!

I suppose there are people out there that will buy this product because it’s the only way they can afford crown molding. What scares me is the thought of how many people will buy this stuff to “stage” a house for a real estate showing? Next time you check out a house to buy make sure you “kick” the crown molding to make sure it’s real!!

Instead why not buy a book and learn how to install your own crown molding; Ultimate Guide to Crown Molding: Plan, Design, Install.

  • oh goodness.... i'd like to take a look at it but it really feels like the bottom of the barrel.

  • EEEEEYUEEE! Ranks up there with the 4 dollar hinge tape strips.
    Probably the same market....

  • Oh my gosh that's just bad! I have issues with cheap painted pine molding. But I guess I'm a bit of a molding snob since my father owned his own custom millwork company for 11 years.

  • I couldn't believe it when I read about this stuff. It was listed in an article about cool products for Father's Day.....I can say I've seen it all now for junk!!

    • I'm moving into a $$$$$$ house that has a room 180 LF without Crown Molding. I'm 81 years old and installed the EZ Peel and Stick in one day and it looks better than the wood molding, wood and professionally installed, in the house that I'm moving out of. We're downsizing into a 55+ resort area due to age, and I know that the molding will be there when I'm long gone, and still as beautiful as it is today.

  • Seems like no of the above seem to like this molding. But I am pretty sure that If you can not install molding even mahagony will look like crap. On the other hand a good installer can make even something like this look decent. But this is made for homeowners....

  • Hello everyone,
My name is Don Clemons CEO of Krown King Interior Moldings Inc
I happen to be in the Peel and Stick Crown Molding business.
My product is for the homeowner that just doesn't have the tools or the knack to install crown molding the conventional way. If someone that wants crown molding in their home, and can not afford to pay a professional to install the product. Krown King systems is the answer. Krown King Systems is a nail-less and miter-less crown molding system, that almost anybody can install. It consist of 4-pre-made outside corners, 4-inside corners, 4-end pieces, and 8-96" crown molding sections along with caulking to finish the job.
Our system is produced from MDF (Medium Density Fiberwood) and will last until the walls fall down. We realize that there are products sold that are less expensive, and they look less expensive too. Anyone out there that questions the quality of our product, please contact us for a free sample at no cost. We only ask that you comment on the product.

    • Mr Clemons,
Does your company also make peel and stick chair railings? I tried visiting your web sites, but, could not access them. I'd be interested in receiving a catalog of your products.

      • We don't sell products...we're just a website that publishes information about the building industry.

  • Looks to me like the reviewer is more interested in selling a book than in giving an objective opinion. Once you paint "real" crown molding with white paint, how can you tell the difference? If it looks good, who CARES if it's "fake"? People walk into a room, take a look, and say "Ooooo, crown molding", then they move on to other things. My guess is most homeowners could buy a house with this stuff, live it it 10 years, and NEVER KNOW its not real.

Personally, if this looked decent, I'd buy it. I've got better things to spend the rest of my money on that "real" crown molding.

    • Bruce - Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I really have no interest in selling books only sharing a resource on how to install real crown moulding. All I'm trying to say is that I'd not be super happy if I bought a house with this stuff in it. I highly doubt it will stand the test of time. Thanks.

  • I was actually looking for peel and stick molding reviews b/c we are a military family and move around a lot. This would be a good option for military housing
