How To Install EasyClosets Accessories

EasyClosets Accessories

In Part III of this Walk-In Closet Installation Series I wanted to discuss some of the accessories that we purchased from EasyClosets for our custom walk-in closet. If you’re interested in this project you can read Walk-In Closet Design-Build Project for more information.

Adding accessories to a custom walk-in closet is a great way to create functionality and a unique appearance. We ordered several great accessories for our new walk-in closet including:

Valet Pole

The valet pole is used for setting out clothes for the next day, hanging freshly ironed clothes or packing for an upcoming trip. As you can see in the photo the valet pole mounts to any vertical shelf or hutch panel allowing you great flexibility in it’s location. You can pull out the valet pole when you need to use it and then slide it back out of the way when it’s not needed.

The valet pole is installed using four euro screws mounted in the standard shelf pin holes. As you can see we’ve mounted it on a shelf vertical at the same height as our clothes hanging rod.

Slide-Out Belt Rack

Another accessory that we added to or walk-in closet was a slide-out belt rack. The slide-out belt rack was really easy to install just like the valet pole. You just position it on any vertical panel and attach it with four euro screws. We installed our belt rack on the inside of the hanging rod section so we can hang long belts along side the hanging clothes.

Hutch Hosiery Divider

EasyClosets also sells some great drawer accessories like the hutch hosiery divider and jewelry trays. We ended up ordering one hutch hosiery divider so my wife could try it in her hutch drawers. The dividers are made of a heavy clear acrylic plastic and they divide the drawer into 9 equal size compartments. The divider was very easy to install in the drawer.

Full Extension Drawer Glides

Although the hutch units came standard with full extension drawer glides I’d recommend you upgrade to them on all drawer units. Full extension drawer glides are much stronger and make it much easier to use the entire depth of the drawers.

Crown Molding

Finally we decided to add crown molding to our custom walk-in closet design. Crown molding is one of the nicest details you can add to any piece of furniture, cabinetry or room to add a very distinct and beautiful touch.

The crown molding is definitely a nice touch but I wouldn’t suggest trying to install it unless you have some moderate home improvement skills. You’ll also need a good miter saw in order to cut the crown molding. The crown molding is attached to the top surface of the shelving units with some short 1 inch long screws. Be sure you pre-drill the crown molding before you screw it into place.

Final Walk-In Closet Photos and Review

Our custom walk-in closet is almost complete so be sure to come back to see the finished project later this week. I’ll be posting final photos along with a complete project review. So far I’ve got to be honest and say I’ve been very pleased with the quality of the products from EasyClosets and I’d definitely recommend you check them out if you’re going to build a new closet.
