Never the less the trees were dead and I bought them from The Home Depot. So I decided to return them for a refund based on the 1 Year Guarantee.
I was pleasantly surprised when I brought the two dead trees to the Customer Service counter. The woman asked for my reciept and without question she refunded my money. I also happened to leave the SKU and tags on the trees when I planted them so they had more than enough information on the dead trees.
This is a really great guarantee and one that’s really important when it comes to planting trees and shrubs. However, you really need to pay attention and save your paper work. Be sure you save all your receipts so you can receive your full credit. The fine folks at The Home Depot don’t care how the plant died, all they want is your original receipt and they replace or refund your purchase.
I don’t know about you but that’s one heck of a guarantee when it comes to plants!

I also left the plastic tag with several bar codes on my tree, assuming it would be traceable but I was sadly disappointed. If you pay cash, use a store credit or gift card to buy your tree you must retain the paper receipt. I checked with Lowes and they enter your phone number into the data base at checkout so all you need for a warranty claim is the plastic tag on the tree.
After 50 days I was only given store credit. No cash refund! Now if I want to purchase a tree to replace it it MUST be from Home Depot!!! Not good. Very disappointed.
