EZ-HANG™ Door Installation System
EZ-HANG™ – Simplifying Door Installation
At this years Remodelers Show there were lots of exciting products debuted including an exciting, inexpensive product to help with door installation called EZ-HANG™. The EZ-HANG door installation system simplifies and speeds door installations for everyone from carpenters to DIY’ers.
The system is quite simple and easy to use. The system consists of light gauge metal hangers that attach to any pre-hung door frame. Once the hangers are attached to the door frame they allow the installer to quickly set the door plumb, square and level.
The beauty of this system is the elimination of shims (for exterior doors I would still install shims at the hinges in locations where long setting screws are used). For interior doors you can simply screw the brackets to the wall instead of shooting nails or screws through the jamb.
Installation Steps
Installing a door using EZ-HANG™ is very easy following three steps.
- Mark It – The first step is setting up a reference line on the wall. Mark a line 1/2″ from the edge of the rough opening on the hinge side in the room where the door opens.
- Attach It – Attach the 7 brackets to the door frame using the 1/2″ screws provided. Screw 3 EZ-HANG™ brackets below each hinge, 3 on the latch/knob side, and 1 on the top. This extra bracket is provided to be used on all doors 30” and wider.
- Hang It – Insert the door. Screw it to the wall matching a site line on the EZ-HANG™ brackets with the line marked on the wall. Work your way down the hinge side and then the latch/knob side using the slotted holes for perfect reveal and clearance.
This is such a great product for everyone. Whether you’re a carpenter of a first timer this product is sure to be a big help. Priced under $5 we think it’s a great value. If you’re interested in ordering these check out their EZ-HANG™ Door Installation System for more information.
Also, stay tuned as we’ll be giving away some of the EZ-HANG™ brackets in an upcoming giveaway.
Nice product
I placed an order online and within 10 minutes received an email telling me my order had shipped. “Wow” i thought that is fast. Well not as fast as the delivery… I got them the next day.
We just installed an interior door and this was the fastest way ever! However, I have a question, would you still use wood shims to keep the frame from twisting on the other side?
You should always use shims for the fasteners.
