Disneyland Architecture
This week while on vacation my family spent two days at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. My 2 year old son was in heaven and my feet wanted to fall off! Anyway, the point of this post was my amazement at the architecture in the new Toon Town part of the park.
Yesterday while my son was riding his first rollercoaster, a woman standing next to us said “I’m very dissapointed with the architecture and planning of this park.” WOW, did I hear that correctly? The woman must have been on drugs because the architecture was nothing short of amazing.
Disney takes no short cuts in creating the ultimate fantasy land. All of the buildings in the Toon Town were stunning. Each of them looked like they had come right out of a cartoon. Soft lines, brilliant colors and soft features make the buildings look just like the fantasy story lines that they come from.
Being an engineer and a contractor I just shook my head at each of the structures. They are so complicated, so intriquate and truly amazing. I can only imagine how expensive the construction of those buildings must have been. I just hope that woman changed her mind after spending a day at the happiest place on earth. I know my son will never forget his first trip to Disneyland….he’s still talking about it today.
