Custom Storage Solutions from Closet Factory

In some previous articles we mentioned that were hired Closet Factory to design and install some storage solutions for a kids play room makeover that we’ve been working on. We are so busy these days that I decided I’d like a break from all the products and decided that we’d hire someone to design and install the cabinetry. We settled on the Closet Factory from Boston and we are VERY happy with the quality and results that they achieved for our project. The following is our Closet Factory Review of their Products and Service.

Closet Factory Review

Design Consultation

Closet Factory offers a free design consultation at your home before making a purchase. Senior Design Consultant Laurie Miller from the Boston Closet Factory came to our home to measure the space and find out about our needs for the kids play room. During the Closet Factory Design Consultation Laurie did a great job capturing our ideas and design style.

Ms. Miller was on time, very courteous and very talented with tons of design experience to offer us. From the very beginning it was obviously that Closet Factory could do anything we wanted because they are completely custom. It was really nice having someone familiar with the product take all the measurements, lay out the design and take care of all the little details that typically side track the best of plans. The design consultation was certainly key to the success of this project.

Installation Service

When it comes to carpentry and contractors I’ll be the first to admit that I’m VERY particular and hard to please. However, having said that I was extremely impressed and delighted at the two installers from Closet Factory. From the minute the two showed up to the minute they left I was impressed and hope that the guys who work for me leave the same impression.

The two men showed up on time driving clean, organized company vans. Both of them were neat, polite and hard working all day. Before work began they covered our hardwood floors and carpets with moving quilts. When the work was completed they swept and vacuumed the floors and left them just as they found them.

One of the things that impressed me most was the attention to detail that both men had. All of the counter tops were nicely scribed to the walls, each of the miter joints were tight and all of the casework was square and plumb. I was also impressed that both men had been working for Closet Factory for 10 years!

Product Quality

Obviously the true test of any product is it’s quality. Great customer service is one thing but the product has to stand on it’s own and the products from Closet Factory were very nice. We ended up choosing melamine cabinets with thermofoil cabinet doors and drawer fronts.

At first I was nervous about choosing a product that wasn’t solid wood but I have to admit they look fantastic and solid. The thermofoil doors and drawer fronts are very nice and they have the benefit of not shrinking and expanding with changing temperature and humidity levels in the house.

The designer recommended solid mahogany tops for the window seats, bookcase and credenza and we are very impressed with that decision. By combining some solid wood accents with the thermofoil products we were able to keep within our budget and make an impressive statement aesthetically.

Product Options

As I previously stated Closet Factory offers a complete custom product line that allows you to create almost any type of storage application from closets to desks, entertainment centers, book cases and so much more. They are able to offer any type of option that you’d find in traditional cabinetry from full extension drawer glides to pull out shelving and any type of hardware knobs you like. They offer crown mouldings, base trims, solid wood tops, laminate tops, fully backed cabinets, basically anything you can dream up they will accommodate.

Final Thoughts

Today it’s getting harder and harder to find quality services from specialty companies like cabinet and closet companies. We were very pleased with the entire process of hiring Closet Factory to design, fabricate and install our new cabinetry in the kids play room. Obviously hiring someone to do this type of work is more expensive than doing it yourself. However, we felt the value that Closet Factory gave us for the price was well worth it. I have no problem recommending Closet Factory to anyone looking for a great quality professional storage system whether it’s for a new walk-in closet or a new office. We are very pleased and know you will be too.

  • It is encouraging to hear (and see) reputable and reliable work that other companies are providing. Thanks for sharing. With today's network systems - good news can travel fast too.

  • Wow... This room turned out pretty sweet. Is Closet Factory a nation-wide company? I agree it is hard to find specialty services like this any more.

  • Wow! The room surely looks great! And I also agree with those who commented, finding a company that provides great quality results and service is quite hard to find nowadays. Thanks for posting this. Love it!

  • Thank you for stopping by with the encouraging words. I'm always a little nervous when I do a DIY project like that, that a PRO will see it & rip my method apart. :) It really was easy, so I hope that other girls will realize it too & give it a try. I'm SO glad I did that tile!
