Quick Ship Assembled Cabinets at The Home Depot
Quick Ship & Assembled Cabinets – Save Time & Money
As a general contractor I often find myself in so many situations with customers that having options available when it comes to material supplies is one of our keys to success. Large, complex projects offer me plenty of lead time to order custom materials like cabinets and mill-work. However, smaller projects quite often have a very limited schedule and budget which make the smaller projects more challenging in some ways. I recently used the Quick Ship Assembled Cabinets from The Home Depot for a project and loved that they were available in the store at a great price.
I can’t tell you how many times customers have called me right before a major holiday and asked for a price to replace some kitchen cabinets or a bathroom vanity. They are in a rush to get a price and complete the project in time for the family gathering. Many times there’s simply not enough time to order even semi-custom cabinets that take 4-6 weeks or longer to get from the manufacturer. So having an option for cabinets that allow for a quick turn around is a huge incentive for me so that I don’t lose a potential client.
Assembled Cabinets from The Home Depot
For my project I ended up using assembled Hickory cabinets from The Home Depot. All of the cabinets I needed for this bar project were in stock when I visited the store. They had a large selection of cabinets to choose from in several styles along with a wide selection of base and wall cabinets. In addition to the selection of cabinets available in the store, you can order other styles that are Quick Ship that ship in as little as 7 days.
This line of cabinets is available in 10 door styles / finish options. The pricing starts at $55 per linear foot or about $1,1oo for a 10×10 layout. This all means that Contractors have quite a few options to offer their customers at a very reasonable price if you’ve got a tight deadline and can’t wait for long lead time cabinetry.
This line of cabinets is a good “contractor” grade product. The face frames, drawer fronts, and doors are all solid wood. The sides and backs are MDF and the sides are finished to match the cabinets so you do not need a skin panel. The drawers have full extension drawer slides and the doors have adjustable hinges. They also offer a selection of solid wood fillers along with toe kick material.
After using the Assembled Cabinets from The Home Depot I’ll definitely use this as an option when clients have a tight schedule and budget.
I’m finishing my basement and will building a walk-up bar. I was originally looking for off the shelf cabinets but I want glass doors for the wall cabinets. Seems you can’t get glass doors and shelves without going all custom. Have you found any way around that?
I think the “quick ship” line does offer some glass doors and the turn around time is pretty nice. Other than that, off the shelf you might be able to cut out the panel and install glass cheaper than buying semi-custom.
12.0″ depth just doesn’t cut it for my needs. Do you know of a source like “Quick Ship” where I can specify a different depth? Say 14.0″?
The only way you’ll get that is with a semi-custom cabinet line and you’re looking at 6-8 weeks lead time typically.
Thanks for the response. Recommendations would be nice but I understand if you don’t want to get into that sort of thing.
I’m sure Medallion can do it: http://www.medallioncabinetry.com/
KraftMaid probably offers it: http://www.kraftmaid.com/
