With the holiday season quickly approaching I thought I’d share some home improvement tool gift suggestions. If you have a friend or family member that enjoys home improvement then buying a new home improvement tool or gadget is a great gift idea this year.

Buying tools is extremely easy and convenient online these days. I’m a huge fan of buying tools on Amazon. I’ve personally bought most of my power tools from Amazon for two reasons, price and selection. So I’ll provide you with simple links directly to each product in Amazon. Typically most items will ship for free so that’s a huge bonus as well.

This article will focus on cordless power tools. If you want to buy a great gift for the handyman or woman in your home then a cordless power tool is a fantastic place to start. Cordless tools have come a long way in recent years especially with the introduction Lithium-Ion battery technology.

Cordless Drill Under $40Black & Decker Cordless Drill
The Black & Decker CD9602K 9.6-Volt Ni-Cad 3/8-Inch Cordless Drill/Driver Kit is an exceptional value at $34. I happen to own this great little cordless drill. I use it around the house for light duty projects. This is the perfect cordless drill for any homeowner that doesn’t own one yet.

Cordless Dremel Tool Under $75
Dremel Tool KitThe Dremel 8000-02 10.8V 120V Lithium Ion Cordless Rotary Tool kit is super gift idea. The Dremel line of tools has been around for years and become a standard tool in most workshops. Dremel tools are great for cutting, grinding, polishing and drilling most any material. The Dremel tool is certainly the single tool that MacGyver could have used to save the world. You just can’t go wrong giving the Dremel tool as a gift.

DeWalt Cordless Tool Kit
Cordless Tool Kit $300
The Factory-Reconditioned DEWALT DC4CPKAR 18-Volt Ni-Cad Cordless 4-Tool Combo Kit is an amazing value. You can buy this factory-reconditioned combo kit for $300 which is a savings of $200 over the factory-new combo kit. Factory-reconditioned tools typically come with a full warranty and have been re-built and inspected thoroughly. This combo kit features a powerful drill, reciprocating saw and circular saw. The beauty of a combo kit is being able to use the batteries interchangeably from tool to tool.

Cordless Tool Kit $800
Dewalt Combo KitIf you’re looking to buy the ultimate cordless combo kit for your loved one this holiday season then look no further than the DEWALT DC5PAKVD Heavy-Duty XRP 18V Cordless Hammerdrill/Drill/Driver/Circular Saw/Reciprocating Saw/Jig Saw/Flexible Floodlight/Vehicle Charger Combo Kit. This is a serious set of tools for the serious handyman or contractor. This combo kit contains every tool you need to get the job done. So if you’re looking to make an impression this year then this is the cordless tool set to buy!

Great idea for the holidays Todd,

I will be directing my wife to your site over the coming weeks for some great gift ideas for me and her Dad, brother etc…

My absolute favorite stocking stuffer – especially for folks doing a historic restoration – is the DeWalt magnetic screw drive extension – to hold onto those wobbly slotted screws so you can drive them without jamming the driver into the woodwork you just restored. We have two (somewhere, lost) and I just picked up a third today. They’re too easy to misplace, but oh so essential.

Todd, that B&D drill is awesome! I've had mine for just three months (birthday gift) But have already used it for everything from putting up the new fence (just a few days after getting it) to FINALLY installing the finials on the new porch railing (just the other day).

Ni-cad gets a bad rap in the days of lithium ion, but I haven’t had this baby go dead on me yet!
