Initial Site Work For House Building Lot
Site work has begun on the new house that we’re building and I’m following here with the Total House Construction Series – Foundation to Finish. The site work for this house building lot consists of:
- Excavation for house foundation
- Installation of driveway
- Installation of waterline and electrical service conduits
- Construction of on-site septic system
- Installation of foundation drain system
- Installation of under-slab radon vent system
- Foundation backfill
- Final grading, loam and seeding
The first step for building any new house on a raw piece of land is to remove trees, stumps, rocks and debris. Second the loam is pushed off the site and stock piled for later. As you can see in the photos the crew of two got a great start on the site work.
During the first day they accomplished:
- Removal of trees and stumps
- Stripped the top layer of loam from the building footprint
- Removed loam from the driveway base and installed 12 inches of base gravel
The crew did a great job and the second day will begin the process of excavating for the concrete footings. The excavation will be fairly significant in order to achieve a full basement and walkout on one end. Stay tuned for more photos as things progress.
